A German Perspective of ''Preconditions for Political Parties to Work Effectively in a Multi-Party Democracy''

On March 25, 2015, Faculty of Law and Public Affairs in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung had honor invited Dr. Heiken Merten (Secretary General of Institute of German and International Party Law and Party Research) to do a 2 hours presentation on a German perspective of ''Preconditions for Political Parties to Work Effectively in a Multi-Party Democracy''. Dr. Merten went on to examine the elementary precondition and legal justification for the establishment of political party in Germany, and analyzed how political parties effectively works together, in particular case of having to formulate a coalition government. The topic attracted attentions of participating students who were especially interested in understanding and analyzing comparative case for Cambodia. An important resource person to this lecture is Prof. Joerg Menzel, an Associate Professor from Bonn University, Germany.
